"Summer Jazz on the Gulf" in Naples, Florida
Full-time Neapolitans always look forward to summertime on the Gulf. The best kept secret is the city's quiet ambiance, light traffic, soft Gulf breezes, and spectacular sunsets. The gourmet restaurants have no wait-time and offer great specials. I often hear the comment, "How can you stand the humidity?" Few realize that the temperatures and humidity in many northern cities are far more unbearable in the summer!
There are other benefits of enjoying Naples at this time of the year. Many events take place, such as the traditional "Summer Jazz on the Gulf" at the Naples Beach Hotel. In its 24th year, this concert series on the green between the hotel and the beach is a popular gathering of locals and area visitors. Europeans love to come in the summer, so you are apt to hear a variety of different languages.
This year's Saturday dates are: June 13, July 18, August 22, and September 19. If you are here, make it a point to attend! Be sure to take along a beach chair or blanket. (No coolers allowed.) This year there will be free trolley service from the large parking lot at Lowdermilk Park to the north of the hotel.
